Two questions...

Postby pizwiz » Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:02 am

I have two questions regarding the workings of the site:

1.) E-mail notifications.
Until a few weeks ago, I would get an e-mail notification from the site whenever a reply was posted to one of my entries.
This has completely stopped. Unless I go to the site I will never know of any new postings.
a. I have made sure that cookies are enabled.
b. I went to the user control panel and made sure that e-mail notification is set as the default.
c. I also ensured that at the bottom of the reply page the e-mail notification box is checked.

What am I missing??
I usually read all new forum posts anyway, but on busy days it is nice to be able to jump to a forum topic awaiting a reply, rather than scanning the whole forum.

2.) The forum "Reply" box size.
When posting a longer reply, exceeding the size of the text box provided, the text one is typing disappears below the bottom line and one is typing
blindly, such as is happening right now as I type this line.
Is there a way to extend the size of the text box while writing an article or reply?
If this has been asked before, I apologize, but I could not find anything on the subject.

Adolph

Well, I made it to 110 lines before my hands cramped up. I don't see any problems there. Don't know about the email issue either as I don't use it. Will look into it though. Could it be that the board is very slow right now??!!

The e-mail notification is automatic, unless you change it. It is the default setting of this type of forum software.
I just double-checked to make sure I had not turned it off accidentally.
...And I doubt that even during slow times the forum is more than 10 days behind.

As far the the text box question:
The picture I attached is an actual frame shot taken live while I was posting.
I cannot duplicate what you did,

But since apparently no one else is experiencing this, the problem must obviously reside in my laptop.
I'll just have to dig to find it.

But thanks for your quick reply. At least now I know where to look.

As long as I have been a member of this site, I have never received an email notification of a response to one of my posts.

There is a box you can check off just above where you hit submit that says "Notify me when a reply is posted.". I've never used it so don't know if it has changed.

Adolph have you been checking off that box?

Thanks Fellows!

Below are two screen shots showing the default settings in the user control panel and in the other shot, the bottom of the posting page.
Notice the boxes that are checked !
They have been this way since I joined the forum.

But, this had gone far enough. As I mentioned in my original post, I usually check the forum everyday anyway. This is no big deal. I just thought that someone might have an obvious answer like " hey dummy, turn on X or Y". Which is usually the case with these things.
Remember, I describe myself as "Digitally Challanged".

BTW, I will be purging these images shortly. Since they contain site information, I don't feel comfortable leaving them online for any length of time.
